coming around on 85
Sparkling, stunning recording. Lots of meat to dig into performance-wise. Listen to the subtle delay effect on Jerry's vocal for the verses of Stella. Crank it loud and check the depth

Better than I remember
These shows were better than I recall. I had let my mediocre audience tapes from back in the day lead me to view these as rather average shows. But having better quality recordings has made me change my opinion. Alpine was a tough place to get good sounding AUD tapes from the pit. The place had a unique sound that was always different depending on the weather.
While these shows certainly have their share of hit and miss moments, I think these two nights stand up quite well against the rest of the tour.

I was there...It is impossible to state some 30 years later just what seeing Jerry and the rest of the boys was like. God bless you Jerry!

This place was special
Ear candy. I don't care what anyone says or thinks about this show, I had a beautiful board of this show when I began collecting tapes around 1987 or 1988. Jerry is pretty much missing for most of Keep on Growing, beyond that, this is a wonderful set. I have always thought that this is the best Throwning Stones I have ever heard bar none. You need a really powerful system to do it justice. This set has a lot of sound subtleties that can only be heard when it is cranked. Enjoy! Five stars for the Throwing Stones alone.

The only reason I give this one star is because the quality of the recording is stellar. These were my first two shows as a taper. It has to rate as almost the worst of the hundreds of shows I have attended. Jerry is almost nonexistent during the second set. Really fast Mississippi half step with a 2 second jam before the Beyond the rio grand e o part. I'm probably being generous here. Geez, what's the rush? Will they turn into pumpkins if they linger on the in between to long? The second set had the definite feeling that they were trying to get it over with without exerting too much musicianship. Not fade away-ing into the encore. Boooooooring! Surprised they could manage to prop Jerry up for the encore.

Best Walking Blues ever!
I'm not a huge fan of the song but this one blew me away. Seriously, if you find a better version, please post it below.

Nice second set
Except for Dear Mr. Fantasy which both Brent and Jerry butcher the lyrics to. Nice to hear a mellow matrix that lets the soundboard take over when it time to listen to the boys.
The Sailor>Saint has quite a bit of Bobby energy and enthusiasm, something we all love. Drums is high energy and i'm sure the crowd was thrilled (i can actually hear that the crowd was thrilled!)
Crowd noise is necessary to give off a proper idea of the crowd's participating excitement, but not to overwhelm the music
Sometimes these "matrix" remasters have too much AUD imho. This one is well balanced.
I would have only given it three stars because of so many better shows this month. (6/15, 6/28, 6/30)
BUT... since the matrix is well executed (thanks!) and i'm the first to review... four stars!

I've been Waiting over Twenty Years to Listen to This
My ears are funny . Well maybe to look at , but most definitely quite sensitive to certain pitch problems . All prior sources / tapes I've had were not listenable to me . :(
Finally , I can listen to this balanced , polished and perfectly bright sound . I'm blown away .
The music . This show is underplayed . 7K dl , 7 reviews . Maybe the other sub par sources had something to do with that . The music is a little uneven , duh , its '85 , but boy do they/we have some sure good fun times along the way .
There a few things in the first set . The first two songs for example . The 2 C's
I usually begin frame 2 w/ Sailor . Stella blue is your song if can only listen to one . Sailor / Saint is pretty good though....
Good GD , transcends the set list sometimes , and this is one of them . Especially for most of frame 2 .
